I Don’t Have A Record Of My Birth - Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has admitted publicly that he does not know his
real age.

Obasanjo, who spoke at an African Regional Summit organised as part of activities commemorating his 77th birthday in Abeokuta,
on Wednesday, believed he had been very lucky in his journey through life.

The event, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, was organised
by the Centre for Human Security in conjunction with the UNESCO Institute for African Culture and International Understanding.

Dignitaries in attendance included Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State; a former Ekiti State Governor, Chief Segun Oni; a former Minister of Education, Prof. Babalola Borishade; a former Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero; immediate past
chairman of SURE-P, Dr. Christopher Kolade and Sierra Leone’s Minister of Education,
Science and Technology, Dr Minkailu Bah.

Others were former Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Prof. Peter
Okebukola; state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye; a former Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Prof. Oye Ibidapo-Obe;
Emeritus Prof. Akin Mabogunje and the Olowu of Owu, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu.
While responding to remarks by Oba Dosunmu, who had earlier stated that Obasanjo was more
than 77 years, the ex-president said he was “born on (an) Ifo market day.”

He, however, noted that the only indicator to his actual birthday could be deduced from the
age of his long-time friend and Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade.

Obasanjo said, “There are those of us like me who have no real record of birth like me. I want to thank God once again for what He has
done in my life. Whether I know the exact date of my birth or not, I think God has made my
path glorious.

“I was actually born on Ifo market day because, according to my mother in our village, she had prepared to go to Ifo market
and Ifo market is every five days. And then she was under labour. Before those who went to
Ifo market had come back, I was born. I know and she knew I was born on Ifo market day.

Don’t ask me what year or month.”
The ex-president’s comments drew laughter and thunderous applause from the audience.

Obasanjo also expressed appreciation to President Goodluck Jonathan for “congratulating me on this day of my official birthday.”

Fuji star Obesere arrested for rape. Alleged victim claims he inserted a ring in her vagina

Popular Fuji musician,  Alhaji Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, has been arrested by the Police for allegedly raping a 29-year-old business woman, Olanike Olaiya in his Okota residence, Lagos, according to a report by Vanguard. Find the full report below....

The victim, who took the matter to the Police, also narrated her ordeal in the hands of the musician whose shows generally fascinate society women.

According to Olaiya, a  National Diploma graduate of business administration from Ibadan Polytechnic, "I got to know  Obesere through one of my
friends, Mrs Bola Okoro. She told me that Obesere would assist me in my business.

"I deal in office equipment and when I contacted Obesere, he asked me to meet him in his family house at Okota. When I met him, I introduced my business to
him and he promised to connect me to some of his friends in Dubai who would sell  goods to me on credit.

"After the discussion, he started demanding for sex and I refused and when I wanted to leave, he insisted I should sleep over in his
house because it was late and he claimed that it was dangerous to go out late in the night in
his area.

"I thought he was a responsible man and I decided to sleep over, but at the dead of the night, he came into the room where I slept
and pounced on me.

"He raped me and afterwards inserted a ring he wore into my private part and I started
bleeding. He hurriedly left me in the room saying he had an appointment to fulfill.

"I could not bear the trauma and the bleeding and I reported the matter to the police."

Vanguard gathered that Obesere was first arrested last Wednesday by the Police at Isolo Police Division, where Olaiya reported the
matter. He was subsequently released on administrative bail.
He was later re-arrested on Monday, when medical examination conducted on Olaiya
revealed that she was actually raped and the Divisional Police Officer, Isolo,  Adamu Ibrahim, was said to have ordered the
transfer of the matter to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation. Sources disclosed that Obesere's arrest was
made possible through a warrant of arrest issued by the Chief Magistrate of Isolo Magistrate Court, Mrs Kike Bukola Ayeye, as
he had declined to honour several police invitations sent to his house at Johnson Famiye Street, Canal Estate, Ago, Okota.

We are lovers — Obesere

Police sources also said Obesere in his statement denied ever raping Olaiya, rather he claimed she was his lover and they made love when she visited him.

The source added that Obesere claimed he asked her to go to a private hospital for treatment when she complained that she was
bleeding, but he was surprised when she reported to the police that she was raped.

APC faces serious exodus in Imo

Culled from vanguard

OWERRI — All Progressives Congress, APC, is currently facing serious exodus in Imo State,
following the number of chieftains that had announced their intentions to return to the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
At the last count, former governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa, Chief Mike Ahamba, SAN, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Chief Uju Madu, Chief Chukwudi Eze, a veteran journalist; Dr. Nnamdi Olebara and former speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Sir Noel Chukwukadibia, have declared their intention to unconditionally return to the PDP

While Chukwukadibia described their decision as “return of the natives,” Dr. Olebara told
Vanguard that “it is sacrilegious for an orator to bear a dumb child.”

Dr. Olebara, who was a chieftain of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, and later APC,
lamented that what they anticipated in going into the union with other parties had been
bastardised by a few people.

“I have noticed lots of impunity and
monumental fraud in the former party. Our collective dream in forging the merger had been systematically bastardised by a few
individuals in APC,” Olebara said.

He wondered how APC would simply hand over the party to runaway governors from Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, on the grounds that they would fund the party with state funds.

Majority of the defecting politicians, who spoke
to Vanguard at various times, explained that they were returning to PDP to add value to the
party and promote policies that would ensure that people were properly taken care of.

Having taken special notice of reports of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and other
investigating bodies, which indicate clearly that Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s tenure has been
characterized by various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are
inconsistent with the administration’s vision of
a Central Bank propelled by the core values of focused economic management, prudence,
transparency and financial discipline; Being also deeply concerned about far-reaching
irregularities under Mallam Sanusi’s watch which have distracted the Central Bank away
from the pursuit and achievement of its statutory mandate; and Being determined to urgently re-position the Central Bank of Nigeria
for greater efficiency, respect for due process and accountability,President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has ordered the immediate suspension
of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the Office of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

President Jonathan has further ordered that Mallam Sanusi should hand over to the most
senior Deputy Governor of the CBN, Dr Sarah Alade who will serve as Acting Governor until
the conclusion of on-going investigations into breaches of enabling laws, due process and
mandate of the CBN. The President expects that as Acting Governor of the Central Bank, Dr.
Alade will focus on the core mandate of the Bank and conduct its affairs with greater
professionalism, prudence and propriety to restore domestic and international confidence
in the country’s apex bank.
The Federal Government of Nigeria reassures all stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial and monetary
system that this decision has been taken in absolute good faith, in the overall interest of the Nigerian economy and in accordance with
our laws and due process.
